#6 Monopolies and Government Regulation

#6 Mobile MicroLearning Module 1

MicroLesson One: What is the approximate time frame that historians consider the Gilded Age?

U.S. historians consider the period between 1865 and 1900 to be the Gilded Age, the term Gilded Age is based on a book title by Mark Twain, the book satirized society during the period in which there were serious social problems, mostly poverty in cities, but problems were masked by a thin gold gilding as the very rich.

Keep in mind that people living in the Gilded Age did not refer to the time as the Gilded Age, the name is a creation of historians in the 1920s.

The main takeaway from this lesson is that the Gilded Age is considered to have taken place between the years of 1865 and 1900.
