Electricity as an energy source, mainly for outdoor arc lighting, could be found in various locations beginning in around 1880, Thomas Edison's Pearl Street generating station in Manhattan went online in 1882. Electricity was note widely adopted until the early 1900s.

The main takeaway from this lesson is that electricity first appeared in practical applications in the late 1800s.
